Opened in 1920 in a landmark building on the Magnificent Mile, this upscale hotel is a block from the Lakefront Trail, 5 minutes’ walk from the 360 Chicago observation deck and a 10-minute walk from the nearest El train station. Traditionally decorated rooms, some with lake views, have elegant furnishings and Italian marble bathrooms, plus flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi (surcharge). Suites add sitting areas, and access to a lounge with free breakfast and snacks. There are 3 restaurants, including an ornate dining room where afternoon tea is served.
